For sellers
What does it cost to take part as a seller?
Nothing. Registering and taking part are both free. There is no pitch fee, and we take no cut of what you sell.
Who can register as a seller?
Private individuals. We are looking first for Solymár residents; whatever places are left over are open to people from other villages and towns. Taking part as a business is not possible at this first festival.
What if I have nowhere suitable to sell?
Register anyway - there is a box on the form for exactly this. Either we put you together with someone who will have you alongside them, or, if a lot of you are in the same position, we ask the council for a shared location. That depends on how many people register, and we will write about it after September 4.
What is the deadline, and when will I know whether I am in?
Registration closes at midnight on September 4. Everyone will hear from us by September 13 whether they are in, or on the waiting list for now. Anyone selling in their own yard is in automatically.
Do I have to be there the whole time?
The sale runs from 9 until 1, and we are counting on you for those four hours. A visitor should not find a closed gate where the map shows a location.
What should I bring as a seller?
A table, a chair, a blanket or a clothes rail to lay things out on, since those are each seller’s own affair. Bring small change for change, paper or plastic bags for your buyers, and a sunshade if you have one.
How can I take payment?
Cash is the simplest. Beyond that it is worth being set up for qvik: the buyer scans a QR code and the money is in your account within seconds. If you have never used it, say so when you register and we will help you set it up.
What may not be sold?
Food, drink, medicines, live animals and weapons, along with anything else that needs a licence to sell. The sale is about passing on second-hand things you own yourself.
For visitors
As a visitor, do I have to pay or register?
No. Come along, look around, and take home whatever catches your eye. Bring small change and a bag, because most places take cash.
How do I find out where the locations are?
From the map, which goes live after September 13. Every location is marked with a heart, and the categories are colour-coded, so you do not have to walk the whole village for the one thing you are after.
Can I bring a dog or children?
Of course, it is meant to be a family morning. Keep the dog on a lead, and bear in mind that what is laid out at each location belongs to somebody else.
Is haggling allowed?
Haggling is part of the day, but nobody is obliged to. Towards the end of the morning many sellers come down on their prices, simply because they would rather not carry it all back in.
Anything else
What happens if it rains?
The sale takes place in the open air. If the weather is bad we may postpone or cancel, and we will let you know at the email address you gave us and here on this site.
Will photographs be taken at the sale?
Yes. Photographs will be taken at the event, and we use them to show what the sale is like and to advertise future ones. We try to photograph in a way that leaves faces unidentifiable. If you do turn out to be recognisable in a picture and would rather not be, write to us and we will take it down.
Who organises it, and where does the money go?
The sale is organised by a private individual, voluntarily and unpaid. It is a non-profit initiative: no pitch fee and no commission. Part of what it raises goes to a local cause.
Will there be another one?
The plan is in the spring. If you would like to hear about it, there is a box on the registration form to tick.
